Should an earthquake occur it might be necessary to shut down all gas supplies. Shutting off a single valve at our local gas delivery point where we receive the gas off the Natural Gas Corporation’s high-pressure transmission pipe-line can do this. However modern gas mains and services are made of a flexible polyethylene material and are unlikely to break should there be an earthquake.
